ABOUT THE FEBRUARY EXHIBIT AT THE LOGANSPORT LIBRARY --

During the month of February, the Exhibit at the Logansport Branch of the DeSoto Parish Library system features an Exhibit on the School of Logansport.  The following was written to introduce and discuss the exhibit.

OBJECTIVES OF THE EXHIBIT:

This Exhibit is sponsored by the Logansport Historical and Genealogical Society.  It celebrates and shares the Schools of Logansport.  The photographs and artifacts are precious personal memorabilia preserved and shared by Logansport natives.  The exhibit is a physical illustration of the subject of the first three meetings of the LHGS which focus on education and schools in our town.  This exhibit reflects presentations by Ms Mary Thompson, Mr. Charles Adams, and Mr. Tim Wheless.  On Jan. 21, Ms Thompson presented the history of education in Logansport as preserved and recorded by her grandfather, Mr. Will Price, and lived by three generations of her family.  On Feb. 18, Mr. Charles Adamswill trace the history of African American education in Logansport as reflected in the history and traditions of Logansport Rosenwald School, and preserved by the Logansport Rosenwald Alumni Association.  In March, Mr. Tim Wheless will recount the history of football in Logansport, from the earliest days through last season. 

NATURE OF THE EXHIBIT: Expanding & Rotating

In order to accommodate a large number of photographs, and to allow other contributors to bring in and share their memorabilia, the Exhibit will change over the course of the month as items are added and rotated.  We are adding informational labels to items as rapidly as possible.  Please check us out each time you come, and if you have things to share, it is not too late.  Call Frances at (318) 347-8318 or write LogansportHGS@icloud.com.
